In our new apartment, there is tile that is a combination of white, black/gray, and a brown/yellow color.?
The tile itself is not that bad, I am just struggling with how to decorate! Our dining room table set is black, and looks ok. I am at a loss of what color scheme I should go with that will not be all black! I need new curtains, and am going to buy a new couch soon. Any suggestions? The walls in the apartment are wood paneling. Re-tiling the floor is not an option for me right now. I want to go with what is in the apartment now.
The colors I mentioned are all on the same tile.
Are all of the colors on the same tile or are we talking about two different tiles in two different areas? Go to a paint store and pick up some chips that have the same colors as your tiles. Try to find a color (maybe a bold yellow) that would go well with the tile as well as the brown paneling. You want to stay away from dark colors especially with the wood paneling. If you have the chips you might be able to better visualize what would look best. The strips usually have a several shades of one color so you can test out which ones look best with what you have. Take these with you when you buy your curtains and also your sofa. Sometimes we don't clearly recall the exact color we have at home. There are so many shades of colors today, it can get confusing. Another thought is to think of getting rugs from a remnant location. You can find ones that are already bound and would cover most of the floor surface. That way you can pretty much change the floor by covering it.
