Analyst said Acer may not achieve the shipment goal of 500-700 million units Tablet PC
After the major shock of Acer global structure, Acer tablet PCs and smart mobile deployment capabilities is doubt by people, Acer Taiwan president Scott Lin response this in a positive attitude,he said Acer is planing to deploy Laptop AC Adapter Tablet PC, Japan earthquake will affect the component supply. Media still believe that this is the Acer tablet PCs and smart phones to businesses looking for an excuse negative, analysts also believe that they can not achieve 500-700 million units shipped goal.
Recently, Acer Taiwan president Linxian Lang (Scott Lin)LTN173KT01 said the company is now actively deploying Tablet PC program. However, the Japanese earthquake may affect their smart phones and Tablet PC components supply.
Linxian Lang said, Acer is currently the strategic focus to ensure that shipments of notebook computers. Therefore, the smart phone and tablet PC shipments may be subject to component shortages, and actual impact will still need some time to accurately estimate. In his view, DigiTimes reports that, "Chen Hong is up to the international optical science and technology and is currently expanding production capacity of glass panel touch screen. " media reports said, HannStar Display, Chunghwa Picture Tubes and other Taiwanese manufacturers Wintek also plans to increase the touch screen Glass panel production.Tablet PC's war has just begun, Google Android-based devices on the market, Apple will no longer dominate the market.
Acer through surveys, most consumers still think like a traditional tablet PC, which means it needs a more open environment, so Acer selected the Android operating system, support for Flash and USB devices, before the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, released a report, investment bank Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster (Gene Munster) forecast, iPad 2 sales reached 100 million units in the short time spent 28 days in the iPad. Some media reports, offered for sale in the international market, iPad 2 on the first day sold outso that consumers get a more complete Internet browsing experience.
Market watchers believe that Acer may not be able to achieve 500-700 million units of the Tablet PC shipment target. Linxian Lang said the company sold in the past week, about 1,000; and the Taiwan telecom operator's orders for 4,000 units, is still receiving from the network and retail channel order, the Acer Tablet PC sales to be optimistic.
